Sustainability

Our approach to sustainability is rooted in our purpose of delivering meaningful improvements to the well-being of our environment, stakeholders, and communities. We have and will continue to implement measures across our organization to utilize safer and more sustainable ingredients, reduce packaging and production waste, conserve water and energy, and support social and economic growth within our organization and communities.
Safer Choice - US EPA Partner of the Year 2020 Logo

In 2020, PurposeBuilt Brands was recognized by the EPA as a Safer Choice Partner of the Year

We continually look for ways to formulate products so that they are not just more effective on specialty surfaces or better for the environment, but so that they include ingredients that are safer for our consumers too. Our selection as an EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year reflects our company-wide commitment to sustainability, as well as our strengths in R&D and manufacturing.

Product Stewardship

  • In Q4 2020, all in-house production shipping cases transitioned from standard corrugate to SFI-certified corrugate
  • In 2018, we reduced plastic and corrugate packaging across our wipes portfolio, eliminating 144 tons of materials
  • We took 115 tons of PVC out of the waste stream by changing our Goo Gone 16 oz bottle to PET, a more sustainable and easily recyclable material
  • 35% of our corrugate shippers are made with PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled Material). The aerosol cans for our consumer business are made of 25% PCR
  • Goo Gone Latex Paint Clean Up was recognized by Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families as a safer alternative paint remover
  • All of our packages are recyclable, with 54% of our packages classified as either a 1 or 2
  • All of our Weiman and Goo Gone branded products sold at Target have the Target Clean icon
  • In the spirit of transparency, as of December 31, 2019, all of our ingredients are disclosed on our brands’ websites
